Vikram SolarSomera Series 10 (VSMH.72.AAA.05, 525–550W)

A mature, monofacial Mono PERC module from an established Indian manufacturer — the datasheet itself flags some certifications as still "under progress."

Reviewed 23 August 2026

3.8of 5 · our score

The Somera Series 10 is a monofacial (not bifacial) Mono PERC half-cut module using M10 cells, spanning a 525W–550W bin range with 21.33% efficiency at the top bin. Being monofacial simplifies its yield story compared to the bifacial modules we have reviewed elsewhere on this site — there is no rear-side generation claim to estimate, and correspondingly no potential extra energy from an elevated, reflective-surface mount either.

It carries a 12-year product warranty and a 27-year linear performance warranty, with a specific published degradation curve: 98% retained after year 1, declining to 83.7% by year 27. That is a real, strong warranty — honestly, it is also 3 years shorter on the linear term than the 30-year warranties we found on the Tata and Waaree bifacial modules reviewed separately, worth knowing as a direct comparison point.

One disclosure we want to carry forward rather than soften: the datasheet itself marks some of its listed certifications with "^All (^) certifications under progress" — a genuinely honest manufacturer caveat, but one that means you should ask specifically which certificates are finalized for the exact batch you are quoted, not assume the full listed set is currently active.

For Installers & Engineers

Deeper technical detail beyond the homeowner-facing summary above.

Cell architecture is 144 half-cut M10 cells with multi-busbar (MBB) design and a split junction box with individual bypass diodes — the same general half-cut partial-shade-tolerance mechanism covered in our other panel reviews, here applied to a monofacial P-type Mono PERC cell rather than a bifacial or N-type one.

Temperature coefficient of Pmax is −0.35%/°C. At a realistic 65°C summer rooftop cell temperature (40°C above the 25°C STC rating), that works out to roughly 14% power derate — landing between the Tata Mono PERC bifacial module we reviewed (≈15% derate, −0.37%/°C) and the Waaree TOPCon module (≈12% derate, −0.30%/°C). Across the three panels now reviewed on this site, that is a genuinely useful comparative data point for Indian summer performance.

Maximum series fuse rating is 25A, versus 30A on the bifacial modules reviewed elsewhere — a string-design detail for your installer/EPC to size correctly, not by itself a quality signal.

Being monofacial, there is no bifaciality factor or rear-side BSTC gain figure on this datasheet at all — which removes one whole category of potential over-promising (a vendor cannot inflate a bifacial-gain expectation that does not apply here), a small but real, honest simplicity advantage.

The Scorecard

How we score

Efficiency & Real-World Yield

4.0

Solid 21.33% efficiency for monofacial Mono PERC, with a mid-pack temperature coefficient (−0.35%/°C) between the TOPCon and Mono PERC bifacial modules reviewed elsewhere on this site.

Durability & Degradation

3.5

Strong mechanical load rating and split-diode junction box design, held back from a higher score by the datasheet’s own "certifications under progress" disclosure until confirmed finalized for a specific batch.

Warranty & Bankability

4.0

A 12-year product / 27-year linear warranty with a specific published degradation curve is still strong — honestly 3 years shorter on the linear term than the best terms found elsewhere on this site.

Subsidy & Policy Fit

3.5

No DCR/ALMM statement on the datasheet — the same standing gap we flag on every panel until a buyer confirms the specific bin/batch’s current listing status.

Value for Money

4.0

Mature, established Mono PERC technology from a long-standing Indian manufacturer is typically well-priced against newer TOPCon/bifacial premiums, though we did not independently source current ₹/W pricing.

Strengths

  • Mature, well-established Mono PERC half-cut technology with a long Indian market track record
  • Solid 21.33% top-bin efficiency for a monofacial Mono PERC module
  • IP68 split junction box with individual bypass diodes per half-cell group
  • Strong mechanical load rating (5,400 Pa snow / 2,400 Pa wind) matching the premium bifacial modules reviewed elsewhere on this site

Watch-outs

  • The datasheet itself explicitly marks some listed certifications as "under progress" — ask which specific certificates are finalized for your exact quoted batch, not just take the printed list at face value
  • 27-year linear performance warranty is 3 years shorter than the 30-year terms found on the Tata and Waaree bifacial modules reviewed separately — still strong, but a real point of comparison
  • Monofacial construction means no bifacial rear-side yield potential — a genuine tradeoff versus the bifacial modules reviewed elsewhere on this site, relevant if your mount could actually use rear-side gain
  • No DCR/ALMM/Made-in-India statement on this datasheet — verify separately before assuming PM Surya Ghar subsidy eligibility, the same standing caveat as every panel we review

Who It’s For

  • Buyers wanting proven, mature Mono PERC technology over newer TOPCon/bifacial options
  • Ground-mount or flush-roof installs where bifacial rear-side gain would not be usable anyway, making monofacial the more cost-sensible choice
  • Buyers who specifically value a long-established Indian manufacturer track record

Our Verdict

A mature, well-specified monofacial Mono PERC module from an established Indian manufacturer, with solid efficiency and a strong mechanical rating. Two things worth confirming directly before you buy: which specific certifications are actually finalized for your batch — the datasheet itself flags some as "under progress" — and the exact ALMM/DCR status, same as any panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn’t this panel have a bifacial rear-side gain like some others you’ve reviewed?

It’s a monofacial module by design — there is no rear glass or rear-side generation claim on the datasheet at all. This removes the installation-height-dependent bifacial-gain estimate entirely, but also means no potential extra energy from an elevated, reflective-surface mount, unlike the bifacial modules reviewed elsewhere on this site.

The datasheet says some certifications are "under progress" — is that a red flag?

It is an honest manufacturer disclosure rather than a hidden gap — but it does mean you should ask specifically which certificates are finalized for the exact batch and date you are quoted, rather than assuming the full listed set is currently active.

Is a 27-year warranty as good as the 30-year warranties on other panels you’ve reviewed?

It is still a strong warranty. The more meaningful comparison is the actual published degradation curve (this module: 98% after year 1, 83.7% by year 27) against whatever specific curve a 30-year-warrantied alternative publishes — not just the headline year count on its own.
